Composition

Each ml contains: Meloxicam — 5 mg

Clinical Description

Melonex Injection contains meloxicam, an NSAID used in veterinary medicine for the control of pain, inflammation and fever. Meloxicam inhibits cyclooxygenase-mediated prostaglandin production, reducing inflammatory pain, swelling and pyrexia.

Indications / Recommended Uses

Melonex may be prescribed for pain, inflammation and fever associated with musculoskeletal disorders, arthritis, lameness, traumatic injuries and postoperative conditions. In large animals it may also be used as supportive anti-inflammatory therapy in conditions such as mastitis, respiratory disease and other painful inflammatory disorders, together with appropriate treatment of the underlying cause.

Dosage & Administration

The exact dosage depends on the species, body weight, route and clinical condition.

Administer strictly as directed by a Registered Veterinary Practitioner.

Do not interchange its dosage with Melonex-XP, because Melonex contains 5 mg/ml, whereas the XP formulation you provided contains 20 mg/ml.

Possible Adverse Effects

Potential adverse effects of meloxicam include gastrointestinal irritation or ulceration, reduced appetite, vomiting or diarrhoea in susceptible species, renal effects, injection-site reactions and hypersensitivity. Risks are greater with overdose, prolonged treatment or use in dehydrated animals.

Withdrawal Period

For food-producing animals, follow the meat and milk withdrawal periods printed on the current Indian Melonex vial/carton or package insert. Withdrawal periods can vary with formulation, dose and approved route.

Storage

Store according to the manufacturer's current label instructions, protected from excessive heat and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
