Clinical Description

MEGLUDYNE is a veterinary non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) containing Flunixin Meglumine. It provides analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory activity and is used to control pain, fever and inflammation associated with several inflammatory and infectious conditions. 

Indications / Recommended Uses

MEGLUDYNE Injection is used for controlling pain, inflammation and pyrexia associated with conditions such as mastitis, metritis, pneumonia/respiratory disease and endotoxemia (septicemia). It may also be used where Flunixin therapy is appropriate for inflammatory or painful conditions under veterinary supervision. 

Dosage & Administration

Cattle, Sheep & Goats: 1.1–2.2 MG Flunixin/KG body weight, equivalent to 1–2 ML MEGLUDYNE per 45 KG body weight, by slow IV or IM injection.

Camels: 1–2 ML per 45 KG body weight, slow IV or IM.

Horses: 1 ML per 45 KG body weight, slow IV, once daily for up to 3–5 days.

Pigs: 1–2 MG Flunixin/KG body weight, SC or slow IV.

Dogs: 1 MG Flunixin/KG body weight, slow IV or IM. 

Treatment duration should be determined by a veterinarian according to the animal's condition.

MEGLUDYNE provides fast-acting, potent, non-steroidal and non-narcotic relief from pain, fever and inflammation. It is particularly useful as supportive therapy in mastitis, metritis, respiratory disease and endotoxemia. 

Precautions

Use only under veterinary supervision. NSAIDs should be used cautiously in animals with dehydration, gastrointestinal ulceration, kidney or liver dysfunction.

Avoid concurrent use with other NSAIDs or corticosteroids unless specifically advised by a veterinarian. For food-producing animals, follow the current label for applicable meat and milk withdrawal periods.

Possible Adverse Effects

Flunixin may cause gastrointestinal irritation or ulceration, reduced appetite, renal effects or injection-site reactions, particularly with excessive dosage, prolonged treatment or use in dehydrated animals.

Seek veterinary attention if significant adverse reactions occur.

Storage

Store according to the instructions on the current product label, protected from excessive heat and direct sunlight. Keep the vial properly closed and use aseptic technique while withdrawing doses.

MEGLUDYNE provides symptomatic control of pain, fever and inflammation. It does not replace appropriate antibiotic or disease-specific treatment when an underlying infection is present.
