FORTIVIR Injection is a long-acting veterinary antibacterial injection containing Enrofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antimicrobial. Enrofloxacin produces a bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase/topoisomerase activity, interfering with bacterial DNA replication.
Indications / Recommended Uses
FORTIVIR Injection is indicated for treatment of diseases caused by susceptible Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria and Mycoplasma species. Product information also lists applications including respiratory tract infections, digestive tract infections, and skin and soft-tissue infections of susceptible bacterial origin.

If clinically required, a second administration may be given after 72 hours.

Key Benefits
FORTIVIR provides long-acting antibacterial activity with a convenient single-injection regimen. Its Enrofloxacin formulation offers broad activity against susceptible Gram-positive, Gram-negative and Mycoplasma organisms, while a second dose is needed only when clinically required after 72 hours.
Precautions
FORTIVIR is a prescription fluoroquinolone antibiotic and should be used only under veterinary supervision. Antibiotic selection should preferably be based on clinical diagnosis and, where practical, culture and antimicrobial-susceptibility testing.
Avoid unnecessary or repeated use because inappropriate fluoroquinolone use may contribute to antimicrobial resistance. Follow the current product label for applicable milk and meat withdrawal periods in food-producing animals.
Possible Adverse Effects
Enrofloxacin may occasionally cause temporary pain, irritation or swelling at the injection site. Gastrointestinal disturbances or hypersensitivity reactions may occur in susceptible animals.
Excessive dosing should be avoided, and any significant adverse reaction should be evaluated by a veterinarian.
Storage
Store the product according to the conditions stated on the current package label, protected from excessive heat and direct sunlight. Keep the vial securely closed and use proper aseptic technique during repeated withdrawal.
Important Warning
FOR VETERINARY USE ONLY — PRESCRIPTION ANTIBIOTIC.
Use only under the supervision of a registered veterinary practitioner. Responsible fluoroquinolone use is important to reduce development of antimicrobial resistance.
