Composition / Active Ingredient:
Each uncoated tablet contains Cephalexin I.P. as monohydrate equivalent to Anhydrous Cephalexin 600 mg. 

Clinical Description:
METACEF 600 MG is a veterinary first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic formulated for treating susceptible bacterial infections in dogs and cats. Cephalexin exerts bactericidal activity by interfering with bacterial cell-wall synthesis, making it useful against susceptible Gram-positive and selected Gram-negative bacteria. 

Indications / Recommended Uses:
Used under veterinary prescription for susceptible bacterial infections including pyoderma and other skin infections, infected wounds and soft-tissue infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs), otitis/ear infections and other susceptible bacterial infections. 

Dosage & Administration:
Administer orally strictly according to the dose and duration prescribed by a Registered Veterinary Practitioner. Cephalexin dosage should be determined according to the animal’s body weight, type and severity of infection, renal status and clinical response. The full prescribed antibiotic course should be completed even if symptoms improve earlier. 

Key Benefits:
Provides effective broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against susceptible organisms and is particularly useful for bacterial skin and soft-tissue infections. It may also be prescribed for susceptible urinary and ear infections in dogs and cats. 

Precautions:
Use only under veterinary prescription. Avoid use in animals with known hypersensitivity to cephalexin, cephalosporins or related beta-lactam antibiotics unless specifically assessed by a veterinarian. Dose adjustment may be necessary in animals with significant renal impairment. Avoid unnecessary or incomplete antibiotic treatment to help reduce the risk of antimicrobial resistance.

Possible Adverse Effects:
Cephalexin may occasionally cause vomiting, diarrhoea, reduced appetite or other gastrointestinal disturbances. Hypersensitivity reactions can also occur. Seek veterinary attention if severe vomiting, facial swelling, breathing difficulty, significant skin reactions or other unusual symptoms develop.

Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight, excessive heat and moisture. Keep tablets in their original packaging and out of reach of children and animals. Follow the storage conditions printed on the original METACEF pack.

For veterinary use only. Prescription antibiotic. METACEF 600 MG should be used only for bacterial infections considered susceptible to cephalexin. Do not alter the dose or discontinue treatment prematurely without veterinary advice.
