Composition / Active Ingredient:
Each tablet contains Cephalexin I.P. equivalent to 300 mg Cephalexin. Cephalexin is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with bactericidal activity against susceptible bacteria. 

Clinical Description:
METACEF 300 MG is a veterinary cephalosporin antibiotic formulated for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections in dogs and cats. Cephalexin works by inhibiting bacterial cell-wall synthesis, resulting in weakening and death of susceptible bacteria. I 

Indications / Recommended Uses:
Used under veterinary prescription for susceptible bacterial infections including pyoderma and other skin infections, infected wounds and soft-tissue infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs), otitis/ear infections and certain respiratory infections. The choice of antibiotic should be based on veterinary assessment and, where appropriate, culture and susceptibility testing. 

Dosage & Administration:
Administer orally strictly according to the dosage and treatment duration prescribed by a Registered Veterinary Practitioner. Published veterinary retail information gives cephalexin dosing ranges that vary with species and condition, so the dose should be individualized according to body weight, infection type and severity. Complete the entire prescribed antibiotic course even if clinical signs improve earlier.

Possible Adverse Effects:
Cephalexin may occasionally cause vomiting, diarrhoea, reduced appetite or other gastrointestinal disturbances. Allergic/hypersensitivity reactions are possible but less common. Stop administration and obtain veterinary advice if significant swelling, breathing difficulty, severe skin reactions or persistent gastrointestinal symptoms develop.
