Clinical Description:
Pragma-D is a potent reproductive hormone injection containing D-Cloprostenol, the biologically active dextrorotatory isomer of cloprostenol and a synthetic analogue of prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α). It produces luteolysis of a functional corpus luteum (CL), allowing manipulation of the oestrous cycle and supporting planned reproductive management in livestock.
Indications / Recommended Uses:
Pragma-D is used under veterinary supervision for oestrus induction and synchronization, regression of persistent corpus luteum, management of certain cases of anoestrus associated with a functional CL, chronic endometritis/pyometra, induction of parturition, management of mummified foetus and planned termination of pregnancy when clinically indicated.
Dosage & Administration:
For cattle and buffaloes: 2 ml IM. For mares: 0.3–1 ml IM up to 400 kg body weight and 1–2 ml IM above 400 kg. For sows: 1 ml IM. Timing of administration for synchronization, parturition or other reproductive protocols must be determined by the veterinarian.
Key Benefits:
Provides potent luteolytic action for corpus luteum regression, assists in controlled oestrus synchronization, supports planned breeding and artificial-insemination programs, and can be incorporated into veterinary protocols for selected reproductive disorders.
Precautions:
Use only under the supervision of a Registered Veterinary Practitioner. Pregnancy status and reproductive history should be established before administration. Accidental administration to a pregnant animal can cause pregnancy loss depending on species and stage of gestation.
Special Human Safety Warning:
Prostaglandin analogues can be absorbed through the skin and may cause bronchospasm or reproductive effects. Pregnant women, women of childbearing potential, and people with asthma or respiratory disease should avoid handling the product. In case of accidental self-injection or significant exposure, seek medical attention promptly. Veterinary references specifically warn about exposure to prostaglandin preparations in pregnant women and people with respiratory disease.
Possible Adverse Effects:
Transient physiological effects related to prostaglandin activity may occur. Species-specific reactions can vary, so animals should be observed after administration and unexpected reactions reported to the veterinarian.
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place protected from direct sunlight, following the exact temperature and storage conditions printed on the current manufacturer pack.
Important Warning:
Prescription veterinary medicine. For animal treatment only. Pragma-D should not be administered without confirming the animal's reproductive status. Incorrect timing or accidental administration can result in luteolysis, alteration of the oestrous cycle, premature parturition or termination of pregnancy.
