Clinical / Nutritional Description:
Mammidium is a comprehensive nutritional formulation developed to support mammary gland health and recovery during mastitis. Its combination of trisodium citrate, antioxidant vitamins, trace minerals, methionine and live yeast is intended to support mammary defence mechanisms, cellular antioxidant status and restoration of normal milk conditions. Intas promotional information specifically describes Vitamin E, selenium and manganese as supporting mammary epithelial protection, while Vitamins A/D3, copper and zinc support mammary defence.
Indications / Recommended Uses:
Mammidium is recommended for subclinical mastitis and as an adjunct to appropriate antibiotic therapy in clinical bacterial mastitis. It should be positioned as supportive management rather than as a replacement for antimicrobial treatment when antibiotics are clinically indicated.
Feeding Schedule & Administration:
Give 50 g orally once daily for 4 consecutive days. Product information recommends mixing the powder with jaggery to form an electuary/paste and administering orally. The 200 g pack therefore provides the complete 4-day course at 50 g/day.
Key Benefits:
Mammidium provides three complementary areas of support: antioxidant protection of mammary tissue, support for cellular/mammary immunity, and restoration of normal milk conditions. Trisodium citrate is included to help restore milk pH, while the vitamin-mineral-antioxidant combination supports recovery of mammary tissue and milk production following mastitis.
Use With Antibiotics:
In clinical mastitis, Mammidium is intended as an adjunct to veterinarian-prescribed antibiotic therapy, not as a substitute for it. Intas product information specifically promotes the combination of appropriate antibiotic treatment with Mammidium as part of comprehensive mastitis management.
Precautions:
Use according to the recommended feeding schedule or veterinary advice. Clinical mastitis accompanied by severe udder swelling, abnormal milk, fever, reduced feed intake or systemic illness requires veterinary examination. Recurrent mastitis should ideally be investigated for causative organisms, milking hygiene and other herd-management factors.
Possible Adverse Effects:
Mammidium is a nutritional/supportive formulation and is generally expected to be well tolerated when administered at the recommended quantity. Mild digestive upset may occasionally occur.
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and follow the exact storage instructions printed on the current Intas pack.
Important Note:
Mammidium should not be represented as an antibiotic. For Rayavets, the most appropriate claim is “nutritional mastitis-management support and adjunct to antibiotic therapy in clinical mastitis.” This avoids implying that the supplement alone treats bacterial mastitis.
