Clinical Description

FREEDOM Spray is a Fipronil-based topical ectoparasiticide for dogs and cats, formulated for the treatment and prevention of common external parasites including ticks, fleas and lice. 

Fipronil belongs to the phenylpyrazole class. It acts on the parasite nervous system by interfering with GABA- and glutamate-gated chloride channels, resulting in uncontrolled nervous activity and death of susceptible ectoparasites. 

Indications / Uses

FREEDOM Spray is recommended for:

• Tick infestations
• Flea infestations
• Lice infestations
• Prevention of re-infestation
• Management of external parasites associated with flea allergy dermatitis
• Control of ticks that can transmit tick-borne diseases. 

Directions for Use

Shake well before use.

Spray evenly over the dry coat, preferably against the direction of hair growth so the product reaches the skin and coat thoroughly. Avoid spraying directly into the eyes, nose, mouth or other mucous membranes.

Allow the coat to dry naturally and prevent the animal from licking the treated area until completely dry. Use the application quantity and repeat interval according to the current product label or veterinarian's recommendation.

Precautions

• Keep treated animals away from flames or heat sources until completely dry.
• Consult a veterinarian before treating sick or severely debilitated animals. 

Possible Adverse Effects

Fipronil topical products are generally well tolerated when used correctly. Occasionally, animals may develop temporary skin irritation, redness, itching or excessive salivation if the product is licked.

Seek veterinary attention if significant skin reactions, persistent vomiting, tremors or other unusual signs occur.

Age Recommendation

Published product information indicates use in puppies and kittens over 8 weeks of age. 

Withdrawal Period

Not applicable for companion dogs and cats.

Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place, protected from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Keep away from flames and ignition sources and out of reach of children.
