Composition

Each formulation contains:

• Fipronil – 0.25% w/v
• (S)-Methoprene – 0.22% w/v
• Excipients – q.s. 

Fipronil acts against adult ectoparasites such as fleas, ticks and lice, while (S)-Methoprene is an insect growth regulator that interferes with immature flea development, helping break the flea life cycle. 

Clinical Description

FIXOTIC ADVANCE Spray is a dual-action ectoparasiticide for dogs and cats. It combines the adult ectoparasite activity of Fipronil with the flea life-cycle control provided by (S)-Methoprene.

It is intended for the control and treatment of fleas, ticks and chewing lice, including different stages of flea infestation. Monthly application is also described for control of flea allergy dermatitis associated with flea infestation. 

Indications / Recommended Uses

FIXOTIC ADVANCE Spray is used for:

• Flea infestations
• Control of flea eggs, larvae, pupae and adults
• Tick infestations
• Chewing lice
• Prevention of ectoparasite re-infestation
• Breaking the flea life cycle
• Supporting management of flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) when used regularly as directed
• Routine ectoparasite control in dogs and cats. 

Directions for Use

For topical/external use only.

Preferably bathe the pet one day before application. Shake the bottle well and spray against the natural direction of the hair from approximately 15 cm away, avoiding the eyes, nose and mouth.

For long-haired pets, ruffle the coat so the spray reaches down toward the skin. Allow the coat to air dry naturally; do not towel dry. Product directions advise avoiding bathing or shampooing for at least 48 hours after treatment. Gloves should be worn during application. 

For continuing parasite control, one product reference recommends treating dogs and cats monthly, or according to veterinary advice.

Contraindications & Precautions

For external use only.

Avoid contact with the pet's eyes, nose, mouth and other mucous membranes.

Do not allow the animal to lick the product during application or before the coat has dried.

Wear gloves during application and wash hands afterward.

Do not apply to animals known to be hypersensitive to Fipronil or (S)-Methoprene. For very young, sick, debilitated, pregnant or lactating animals, use according to the current product label and veterinary advice.

Possible Adverse Effects

When used correctly, the product is generally intended to be well tolerated. Possible reactions can include:

• Temporary skin irritation
• Redness or itching at the application site
• Temporary coat changes
• Excessive salivation if the product is licked
• Rare hypersensitivity reactions

If significant skin irritation, vomiting, tremors, unusual behaviour or other concerning signs develop, discontinue use and contact a veterinarian.

Withdrawal Period

FIXOTIC ADVANCE Spray 100 mL is intended for companion animals (dogs and cats), not food-producing animals. 

Storage

Store according to the current manufacturer-approved label, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, excessive heat and sources of ignition.
