Zakshot® Injection 20 ML

Manufacturer/Marketer: Carus Laboratories Pvt. Ltd.
Product Type: Veterinary Injectable Haemostatic / Antifibrinolytic
Therapeutic Class: Antifibrinolytic • Haemostatic • Bleeding Control Agent
Active Ingredient: Tranexamic Acid
Target Species: Cattle, buffaloes, horses, sheep, goats, pigs, dogs and other animals as directed by a veterinarian
Pack Size: 20 ml vial

Composition – Each ml contains:
Tranexamic Acid — 100 mg
Suitable aqueous vehicle/excipients — q.s.

Clinical Description:
Zakshot is a veterinary antifibrinolytic haemostatic injection containing Tranexamic Acid. It helps control excessive bleeding by inhibiting activation of plasminogen and reducing the breakdown of fibrin clots. This stabilizes formed blood clots and assists haemostasis in conditions associated with excessive or persistent bleeding.

Indications:
According to Carus product literature, Zakshot is indicated for controlling bleeding associated with surgery, trauma, gynaecological bleeding, epistaxis (nose bleeding), gastrointestinal bleeding, blood in urine (haematuria), and blood in milk. Carus Lab

Dosage & Administration:
5–10 mg/kg body weight, equivalent to 0.05–0.1 ml/kg body weight of Zakshot 100 mg/ml.

Administer 2–3 times daily by IM or IV route. Manufacturer literature states that treatment may be continued for 2–8 days, or as directed by the veterinarian.

Key Benefits:
Provides effective antifibrinolytic action, helps stabilize blood clots and control excessive bleeding, and can be used for haemorrhage associated with surgery, injuries, reproductive conditions, gastrointestinal bleeding, haematuria and blood in milk. The injectable formulation permits IM or IV administration.

Precautions:
For veterinary use only. Use under the supervision of a Registered Veterinary Practitioner. IV administration should be performed carefully and according to veterinary directions. The underlying cause of significant or recurrent bleeding should always be investigated.

Extra caution is appropriate in animals with urinary-tract bleeding or a risk of thrombosis, since stabilization of clots may potentially contribute to urinary obstruction or thrombotic complications in susceptible cases.

Possible Adverse Effects:
Tranexamic Acid is generally well tolerated when appropriately administered. Possible adverse effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, injection-related reactions or hypersensitivity. Excessive or inappropriate use may increase the risk of thrombotic complications.

Storage:
Store according to the conditions stated on the original manufacturer pack, protected from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Do not freeze unless permitted by the current label. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the stated expiry date.

Withdrawal Period:
For food-producing animals, milk and meat withdrawal instructions should follow the current Indian Zakshot label/package insert. Rayavets should not publish an unverified withdrawal period.

Important Warning:
For veterinary use only. Prescription veterinary medicine. Zakshot helps control bleeding but does not replace treatment of the underlying cause of haemorrhage. Severe or unexplained bleeding requires immediate veterinary evaluation.
