Composition – Each ml Contains:
Hydroxyprogesterone Caproate IP — 250 mg
Suitable oily vehicle/excipients — q.s. Therefore, the 3 ml ampoule contains 750 mg Hydroxyprogesterone Caproate. 

Clinical Description:
Progesyn is a long-acting injectable synthetic progestogen. Hydroxyprogesterone caproate provides prolonged progesterone-like activity and is used in veterinary reproductive management when sustained progestational support is required. Its actions include supporting the uterine environment and reducing uterine contractility while exerting progesterone-mediated effects on the reproductive system. 

Indications / Recommended Uses:
Progesyn is used under veterinary supervision for threatened abortion and habitual/recurrent abortion where progesterone support is clinically appropriate. Product information also describes its use as reproductive hormonal support in livestock and in selected cases involving uterine/reproductive management. The underlying cause of abortion should be investigated because progesterone therapy will not treat infectious causes such as brucellosis or leptospirosis. 

Dosage & Administration:
Administer by deep intramuscular (IM) injection only. The exact dose and treatment interval depend on the animal species, stage of pregnancy and clinical condition. A veterinary reference describes 500–1000 mg IM weekly in cattle for threatened/habitual abortion during an appropriate gestational period, but the dose should be determined by the treating veterinarian rather than applied routinely. 

For the Rayavets product page, I recommend stating “Dosage: As directed by the Registered Veterinary Practitioner” rather than giving a fixed 3 ml dose.

Injection-site discomfort, swelling or sterile inflammatory reactions can occur with oily depot injections. Prolonged or inappropriate progestogen administration can also alter the normal reproductive cycle. Use only according to veterinary direction.

Storage:
A veterinary drug reference recommends storing the oily injection at approximately 15–25°C, protected from light, and not refrigerating it because the oil may thicken. The storage instructions printed on the current Intas ampoule/carton should take precedence for the Rayavets listing.
