Flumethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid ectoparasiticide with acaricidal activity against susceptible ticks. 

Clinical Description

PORON is a ready-to-use veterinary pour-on ectoparasiticide formulated for the control and management of tick infestation in livestock. Its active ingredient, Flumethrin, acts on the nervous system of susceptible ectoparasites, producing paralysis and death.

The pour-on formulation allows convenient topical application without dilution, spraying or injection. 

Indications / Recommended Uses

According to Alembic, PORON is indicated for the control and management of ticks in cattle, sheep and goats. 

It can be used as part of an ectoparasite-control program to reduce tick burden and the health and productivity problems associated with significant tick infestation.

Dosage & Administration

Alembic specifies:

Dose: 1 ML per 10 KG body weight.

Apply PORON evenly along the midline of the back, from the front of the shoulder to the base of the tail. 

For example, a 200 KG animal requires 20 ML, while a 300 KG animal requires 30 ML at the manufacturer's stated dose. 

Route: Topical / Pour-on application.

Precautions

For external veterinary use only. Avoid contact with the animal's eyes, mouth and other mucous membranes. Do not allow the product to be swallowed.

Wear suitable protective gloves during application and wash hands after handling. Avoid applying unnecessarily to damaged or severely irritated skin.

Possible Adverse Effects

When used correctly, topical Flumethrin preparations are generally well tolerated. Occasionally, temporary local skin irritation or sensitivity may occur.

If significant irritation, abnormal behaviour or suspected toxicity occurs, discontinue use and seek veterinary advice.

Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from direct heat and sunlight. Keep the container tightly closed and out of reach of children.
