Product Description

Mammicef® Intramammary Tube

Manufacturer/Marketer: Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
Product Type: Veterinary Intramammary Antibiotic
Therapeutic Class: Third-generation Cephalosporin Antibiotic • Anti-mastitis
Active Ingredient: Cefoperazone Sodium
Target Species: Lactating dairy cattle/buffaloes
Pack Size: 10 ml pre-filled intramammary syringe/tube.

Composition – Each 10 ml Prefilled Syringe Contains:
Cefoperazone Sodium — 250 mg
Intramammary suspension base — q.s.

Clinical Description:
Mammicef is an intramammary antibacterial preparation containing cefoperazone, a third-generation cephalosporin. It is intended for local treatment of bacterial mastitis by delivering a high concentration of antibiotic directly into the affected udder quarter. Veterinary institutional references specifically identify Mammicef as a cefoperazone sodium intramammary suspension.

Indications / Recommended Uses:
Used for the treatment of clinical and subclinical bacterial mastitis caused by organisms susceptible to cefoperazone. Treatment should ideally be based on veterinary examination and, particularly in recurrent or severe cases, milk culture and antimicrobial-susceptibility testing.

Dosage & Administration:
Administer one 10 ml pre-filled syringe into the affected quarter by the intramammary route, according to the veterinarian-prescribed treatment schedule. A veterinary clinical report documents Mammicef being administered intramammarily during udder/teat treatment, but treatment frequency should follow the current product label and veterinarian's directions.

Usage Instructions:
Milk the affected quarter completely before treatment. Thoroughly clean and disinfect the teat end. Remove the protective cap without contaminating the syringe tip, gently insert the nozzle into the teat canal and infuse the contents into the affected quarter. After administration, gently massage upward to distribute the medicine through the quarter. Maintain strict teat and udder hygiene throughout treatment.

Key Benefits:
Provides direct intramammary antibiotic therapy at the site of infection. Cefoperazone offers broad antibacterial activity and is used for susceptible bacterial infections of the mammary gland. The pre-filled 10 ml syringe provides convenient single-quarter administration.

Precautions:
Use only under the supervision of a Registered Veterinary Practitioner. Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or other beta-lactam antibiotics. Maintain strict hygiene during administration to prevent introducing additional organisms into the teat canal.

Possible Adverse Effects:
Local irritation or hypersensitivity reactions may occasionally occur. Discontinue treatment and seek veterinary advice if significant swelling, severe inflammation or an allergic reaction develops.

Milk & Meat Withdrawal:
Because Mammicef is an antibiotic used in food-producing dairy animals, the milk and meat withdrawal period is critical. Follow the withdrawal period printed on the current Indian Mammicef carton/tube or prescribed by the veterinarian.

Storage:
Store according to the conditions stated on the original Intas pack, protected from excessive heat and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.

Important Warning:
For veterinary use only. Prescription antibiotic. For intramammary administration only. Responsible antibiotic use is important; recurrent mastitis should be investigated with appropriate veterinary examination and, where possible, culture and sensitivity testing.
