Composition

Each LISYBIN MEDIUM film-coated tablet contains:

• S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMe) – 225 mg
• Silybin Phospholipid Complex equivalent to Silybin (A + B) – 24 mg
• Excipients – q.s.
• Approved colours used. 

Clinical Description

LISYBIN MEDIUM is an advanced antioxidant liver-support formulation combining SAMe and Silybin. SAVA states that it helps increase hepatic glutathione, an important endogenous antioxidant involved in protecting liver cells against oxidative damage.

By increasing liver glutathione levels, LISYBIN supports hepatocyte protection, cell repair and regeneration and helps maintain and improve liver function. The Silybin is supplied as a phospholipid complex, a formulation intended to support its bioavailability. 

Indications / Recommended Uses

LISYBIN is indicated for the maintenance, improvement and protection of liver function. It is particularly intended as liver-support therapy where a veterinarian determines hepatic support is appropriate. 

Dosage & Administration

For the LISYBIN MEDIUM strength:

Dogs approximately 5.5–16 kg: 1 tablet daily.

The tablet should be administered on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before a meal, to optimize absorption. The dose may subsequently be reduced or increased according to the veterinarian's recommendation.

Precautions

According to SAVA's product insert:

• Do not administer to pets below 6 weeks of age.
• The insert advises not to give LISYBIN to pets without liver disease.
• Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
• Dose adjustments should be made according to veterinary advice. 

Drug Interactions

The manufacturer's insert states that there are no known drug interactions or contraindications for the product. Nevertheless, concurrent medications should be discussed with the treating veterinarian, particularly in animals being managed for liver disease. 

Possible Adverse Effects

SAVA's product insert states that LISYBIN has no known side effects. If vomiting, diarrhoea, loss of appetite or another unexpected reaction occurs after administration, veterinary advice should be sought. 

Withdrawal Period

Not applicable — this strength is intended for companion animals and not food-producing animals.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Protect from light and moisture and keep out of reach of children.
