Composition

Each KIWOF For Cats tablet contains:

• Praziquantel IP – 20 mg
• Pyrantel Pamoate IP – 230 mg
• Excipients – q.s. 

Clinical Description

KIWOF For Cats is a broad-spectrum deworming tablet combining two complementary anthelmintics. Praziquantel is active against tapeworms (cestodes), while Pyrantel Pamoate acts against important gastrointestinal nematodes, particularly roundworms and hookworms. 

Indications / Worms Controlled

KIWOF is indicated for treatment of roundworm, hookworm and tapeworm infestations in cats. Reported susceptible parasites include Toxocara cati, Toxascaris leonina, Ancylostoma tubaeforme, Ancylostoma braziliense, Uncinaria stenocephala, Dipylidium caninum and Taenia taeniaeformis. 

Dosage & Administration

Recommended dose rates are Praziquantel 5 mg/kg + Pyrantel Pamoate 57.5 mg/kg, equivalent to approximately 1 tablet per 4 kg body weight. 

The tablet can be administered directly by mouth or disguised in a small amount of food. Food does not need to be withheld before or after administration. 

Recommended Deworming Schedule

Kittens: Treat at 6, 8, 10 and 12 weeks, then monthly until 6 months of age; thereafter approximately every 3 months or according to veterinary advice.

Adult cats: Generally every 3 months, or according to the cat's parasite risk and veterinarian's recommendation.

Lactating queens: The manufacturer guide recommends treating concurrently with their kittens. 

Key Benefits

KIWOF provides broad-spectrum intestinal worm control in a single tablet, combining tapeworm activity from praziquantel with roundworm and hookworm activity from pyrantel. The scored tablet makes weight-based administration easier for smaller cats. 

Contraindications & Precautions

Do not use in kittens below 6 weeks of age. The available product guidance also advises against simultaneous administration with piperazine-containing dewormers. For pregnant cats, use only after veterinary assessment and according to the current Indian pack insert. 

For Dipylidium caninum tapeworm infestation, appropriate flea control is also important, because fleas act as intermediate hosts and reinfestation may occur if the flea problem is not controlled.

Possible Adverse Effects

KIWOF is generally well tolerated at the recommended dose. Vomiting, increased salivation, temporary reduction in appetite or loose stools may occasionally occur. The manufacturer's guide reports vomiting and salivation at very high multiples of the recommended dose without other adverse effects. 

Withdrawal Period

Not applicable — intended for cats, not food-producing animals.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from excessive heat and moisture. Keep tablets in the original blister until required and keep out of reach of children.

Important Warning

FOR ANIMAL TREATMENT ONLY – FOR CATS.

Dose according to current body weight. Persistent diarrhoea, vomiting, visible worms despite treatment, marked weight loss or repeated worm infestation should be evaluated by a veterinarian.

It is used for treatment of roundworms, hookworms and tapeworms in cats. Recommended dosage is approximately 1 tablet per 4 kg body weight: up to 2 kg – ½ tablet; >2–4 kg – 1 tablet; >4–6 kg – 1½ tablets. It may be administered directly or with a small amount of food.
