Composition

Each 1 ML of CATOSAL Injection contains:

• Butaphosphan — 100 mg
• Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) — 50 mcg
• Methyl Paraben IP — 0.1% w/v (listed in Indian product information)
• Water for Injection — q.s.

Butaphosphan is an organic phosphorus compound, while Cyanocobalamin provides Vitamin B12. 

Clinical Description

CATOSAL is a veterinary metabolic stimulant and supportive injectable preparation combining organic phosphorus with Vitamin B12.

Butaphosphan supports phosphorus-dependent metabolic processes and energy metabolism, while Vitamin B12 contributes to normal red-blood-cell formation, cellular metabolism and physiological recovery. The combination is used as supportive therapy during periods of metabolic stress, weakness, nutritional deficiency and convalescence. 

Indications / Recommended Uses

CATOSAL may be used under veterinary supervision as supportive therapy for:

• Metabolic disorders and nutritional deficiencies
• General weakness and debility
• Convalescence and recovery
• Vitamin B12 and phosphorus deficiency states
• Secondary or nutritional anaemia
• Loss of appetite and poor condition
• Exhaustion and stress
• Support during pregnancy, parturition and lactation
• Support alongside calcium/magnesium therapy in metabolic disorders such as hypocalcaemia and tetany
• Developmental and nutritional disorders in young animals

Published Catosal product information gives the following general dose ranges:

Adult Cattle & Horses: 10–25 ML
Calves & Foals: 5–12 ML
Sheep & Goats: 2.5–5 ML
Lambs: 1.5–2.5 ML
Adult Pigs: 2.5–10 ML
Piglets: 1–2.5 ML
Dogs: 0.5–5 ML
Cats: 0.5–2.5 ML 

Catosal formulations are administered parenterally, with IV, IM or SC routes described depending on species and approved product directions. Exact dose, route, frequency and duration should follow the current pack insert and veterinarian's instructions.

Storage
