Composition

TICK FREE Shampoo contains:

• Cypermethrin – 1% w/w
• Tea Tree Oil
• Aloe Vera
• Conditioning ingredients including Coconut Oil

The product is described as a pH-balanced veterinary ectoparasiticide shampoo formulated with a cis-trans ratio of cypermethrin. 

Clinical Description

TICK FREE Shampoo is a medicated ectoparasite-control shampoo for dogs, formulated to help control and remove ticks, fleas and lice from the skin and coat.

Cypermethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid ectoparasiticide that acts on susceptible external parasites. The formulation also contains Tea Tree Oil, Aloe Vera and conditioning ingredients, helping cleanse the coat while maintaining skin and coat condition. 

Indications / Recommended Uses

TICK FREE Shampoo is recommended for:

• Tick infestation
• Flea infestation
• Lice infestation
• External parasite control in dogs
• Cleaning the skin and coat during ectoparasite infestation
• Maintaining a clean and shiny coat
• Routine tick and flea management when advised by a veterinarian. 

Directions for Use

1. Thoroughly wet the dog's body and coat with water.
2. Apply TICK FREE Shampoo liberally over the hair coat.
3. Massage thoroughly to produce a good lather, ensuring appropriate contact with the coat and skin.
4. Avoid sensitive areas, particularly the eyes, ears and mouth.
5. Allow the lather to remain on the body for approximately 5–10 minutes.
6. Rinse thoroughly with plenty of clean water.
7. Dry the dog appropriately after bathing. 

During a heavy infestation, published directions indicate treatment may be repeated once or twice weekly, or as directed by the veterinarian.

Precautions

• For external use only.
• Do not use on cats.
• Avoid contact with the eyes, ears, nose and mouth.
• Do not allow the animal to lick or ingest the shampoo.
• Do not use on dogs with extensive superficial/open skin wounds.
• Do not use on sick or convalescent animals without veterinary advice.
• One current veterinary retailer advises against use in puppies under 3 months of age. 
• Wash hands thoroughly after application.
• Do not combine with another ectoparasiticide unless advised by a veterinarian.

Possible Adverse Effects

When used according to directions, TICK FREE Shampoo is intended for topical ectoparasite control. Sensitive animals may occasionally develop skin redness, irritation, itching or other local reactions.

Excessive exposure to or accidental ingestion of cypermethrin may cause more serious adverse effects. If excessive salivation, vomiting, tremors, weakness, abnormal behaviour or other unusual signs occur, rinse the animal thoroughly and seek veterinary attention.

Withdrawal Period

Not applicable — the product is intended for companion dogs.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children and animals.
