Clinical Description

Softas Soap is a topical ectoparasiticidal medicated soap formulated for control of common external parasites in dogs. Permethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid that acts against ectoparasites, while Aloe Vera provides soothing and conditioning support to the skin and coat. 

Indications / Recommended Uses

Softas Soap is recommended for management of ticks, fleas and lice infestations in dogs. It simultaneously cleans the coat while helping control susceptible external parasites. 

Usage Instructions

Wet the dog's coat thoroughly with water. Apply Softas Soap liberally and massage gently to produce a rich lather, ensuring coverage of the body, legs and tail while avoiding the eyes, mouth and other sensitive areas. Leave the lather on for approximately 5–10 minutes and rinse thoroughly with clean water. Frequency of use should follow veterinary advice, particularly in heavy infestations.

Precautions

For external use only. Prevent licking of the soap or lather. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, nose, mucous membranes and damaged skin. Wash hands after application.

Available product directions state that Softas should not be used on nursing bitches or puppies below 3 months of age. 

Important Cat Warning

Permethrin can be highly toxic to cats. For the Rayavets listing, I recommend restricting this product to dogs unless the current physical Intas label specifically authorizes use in cats. Do not allow cats to contact or groom a recently treated dog until the product has been completely rinsed away and the dog is dry.

Possible Adverse Effects

Sensitive animals may develop temporary skin irritation, redness or itching. Accidental ingestion or inappropriate exposure can produce toxicity. Discontinue use and contact a veterinarian if excessive salivation, tremors, unusual behaviour or other significant reactions occur.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep away from children, food products and other animals when not in use.

Important Note

For veterinary external use only. Softas controls external parasites but does not necessarily eliminate parasites from the animal's bedding or environment. Effective flea/tick management may therefore require appropriate environmental control and veterinary guidance.
