Ridd® Liquid 6 ML
Manufacturer/Marketer: PetCare / Provimi
Product Type: Veterinary Topical Ectoparasiticide Solution
Therapeutic Class: Acaricide • Miticide • Anti-Tick & Flea Treatment
Active Ingredient: Amitraz
Target Species: Primarily dogs; veterinary listings also describe use in other susceptible animals under professional guidance
Pack Size: 6 ml bottle
Composition:
Amitraz I.P. (Vet.) — 12.5% w/v
Water-soluble carrier — q.s.
Clinical Description:
Ridd Liquid is a concentrated topical acaricidal and ectoparasiticidal solution containing Amitraz. Amitraz acts mainly on octopamine receptors in susceptible parasites, disrupting their nervous system and resulting in paralysis and death. It is particularly useful against ticks and mites, including mites responsible for demodectic and sarcoptic mange.
Indications:
Ridd is used for the treatment and control of ticks, fleas, lice and mites. It is also used in veterinary management of demodicosis (demodectic mange) and sarcoptic mange, particularly in dogs.
Dosage & Administration:
Ridd is a concentrated solution and must be diluted before application according to the current product label or veterinarian's directions. The prepared solution may be applied thoroughly over the affected coat and skin by sponge or spray, ensuring adequate skin contact. One current product listing describes application once weekly and advises preventing licking until the coat is dry.
Because Amitraz concentration and treatment protocols are safety-critical,
Key Benefits:
Provides broad ectoparasite control against ticks, fleas, lice and mites, is particularly useful in the management of demodectic and sarcoptic mange, and comes as a concentrated formulation that is diluted before topical use.
Precautions:
For external veterinary use only. Do not use the concentrate undiluted unless specifically directed by the product label. Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, mouth and other mucous membranes. Prevent the animal from licking the solution during and after application as directed on the label. Wear gloves when handling and wash hands after use.
Extra caution is warranted in very young, debilitated, sick or sensitive animals. Use in cats or other species should only follow specific veterinary/product-label directions.
Possible Adverse Effects:
Amitraz exposure or accidental ingestion can cause adverse effects such as sedation, weakness, vomiting, reduced heart rate, low body temperature or breathing abnormalities. If significant exposure or unusual symptoms occur, contact a veterinarian promptly.
Storage:
Store according to the original manufacturer's label, protected from excessive heat and direct sunlight. One current listing specifies storage below 30°C. Keep tightly closed and out of reach of children and animals.
Important Warning:
For veterinary use only. For external use only. Ridd contains concentrated Amitraz 12.5% w/v and must be diluted and applied strictly according to the current product label or veterinary instructions. Avoid accidental ingestion and prevent licking of the treated coat.
