Composition

PURDRUFF contains:

Clinical Description

PURDRUFF is a medicated anti-dandruff shampoo combining Piroctone Olamine with seven botanical ingredients. Piroctone olamine provides antifungal/anti-dandruff activity, while the botanical blend is intended to soothe, refresh and support irritated skin and coat health. SAVA specifically states that PURDRUFF is designed to effectively fight dandruff and help with allergic skin conditions. 

Indications / Recommended Uses

PURDRUFF is suitable for dogs and cats with:

• Dandruff and flaky skin
• Scaling and excessive skin flakes
• Dry or irritated skin
• Skin associated with yeast/fungal overgrowth where a veterinarian considers the shampoo appropriate
• Itching and irritation associated with dandruff
• Supportive skin care in allergic conditions. 

Directions for Use

1. Wet the pet's coat thoroughly with lukewarm water.
2. Apply sufficient PURDRUFF Shampoo.
3. Massage gently into the coat and skin to produce a rich lather.
4. Allow the shampoo to remain in contact with the coat for approximately 5–10 minutes.
5. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
6. Dry the animal properly. 

A current veterinary retailer lists usage at 2–3 times weekly, but frequency should be adjusted according to the skin condition and veterinarian's advice.

Precautions

For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, mouth and inner ears. Rinse thoroughly after use. Discontinue and seek veterinary advice if significant redness, irritation or hypersensitivity develops.

Persistent dandruff, severe itching, hair loss, skin odour, pustules or recurrent scaling may indicate an underlying allergy, parasitic disease, bacterial infection, fungal/yeast disorder or other dermatological condition requiring veterinary diagnosis.

Possible Adverse Effects

PURDRUFF is generally used as a topical skin-care shampoo. However, individual animals may develop skin irritation, redness, dryness or hypersensitivity. Stop use if a significant reaction occurs.

Not applicable — intended for companion dogs and cats.

Storage

Keep in a cool, dry place, away from excessive heat and direct sunlight. Keep the bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children.
