Composition

Each 5 ML contains:

Levamisole Hydrochloride I.P. — 112.5 MG
Equivalent to Levamisole — 95.45 MG
Oxyclozanide I.P. — 150 MG
Anhydrous Copper Sulphate B.P. equivalent to Elemental Copper — 1.25 MG
Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate U.S.P. equivalent to Elemental Zinc — 0.4 MG
Cobalt Sulphate equivalent to Elemental Cobalt — 0.15 MG. 

Clinical Description

NILZAN is a veterinary broad-spectrum oral dewormer combining Levamisole and Oxyclozanide. Levamisole acts mainly against susceptible gastrointestinal and pulmonary roundworms by producing neuromuscular paralysis, while Oxyclozanide is a salicylanilide anthelmintic active particularly against liver and rumen flukes. 

The formulation additionally supplies trace amounts of Copper, Zinc and Cobalt.

Indications / Recommended Uses

NILZAN Oral Suspension is used for the treatment and control of susceptible internal parasites, including:

• Gastrointestinal roundworms / nematodes
• Lungworms
• Liver flukes (Fasciola spp.)
• Rumen flukes / Paramphistomes
• Mixed susceptible fluke and roundworm infestations

A current 1-L Virbac listing describes NILZAN for nematode and Fasciola infestations in cattle, sheep and goats and also lists activity against amphistomes/paramphistomes. 

Dosage & Administration

Cattle: 1 ML per 3 KG body weight

Sheep & Goats:
Up to 15 KG — 5 ML
Up to 30 KG — 10 ML
Up to 45 KG — 15 ML
Above 45 KG — 20 ML maximum

Route: Oral administration. 

Shake well before use. Dose according to accurate body weight and veterinary advice.

Key Benefits

NILZAN provides combined activity against two major groups of livestock parasites: roundworms through Levamisole and flukes through Oxyclozanide. This makes it useful where mixed gastrointestinal, pulmonary and trematode infestations are present or suspected. 

Precautions

Use according to accurate body weight and veterinary guidance. Do not exceed the recommended dose, particularly because Levamisole has a relatively narrow therapeutic margin.

Avoid unnecessary or repeated use of the same deworming class, as inappropriate anthelmintic use can contribute to parasite resistance. Follow the current product label for meat and milk withdrawal periods.

Possible Adverse Effects

Levamisole-containing products may cause transient salivation, restlessness, tremors or gastrointestinal signs if excessive exposure occurs. Oxyclozanide may occasionally cause softening of faeces, increased defecation or temporary reduction in appetite. 

Seek veterinary assistance if significant adverse reactions occur.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Keep the container tightly closed. Follow the storage instructions printed on the current NILZAN pack.
