Clinical Description
NILVERM is a veterinary broad-spectrum anthelmintic powder containing Levamisole along with trace minerals. Levamisole acts on susceptible nematodes by causing neuromuscular paralysis, resulting in elimination of the worms from the animal.
The product is specifically formulated for sheep and goats and is used against susceptible gastrointestinal and pulmonary nematodes.
Indications / Recommended Uses
NILVERM Powder is indicated for the control and treatment of gastrointestinal and pulmonary nematode infections in sheep and goats
It is principally used for:
- Gastrointestinal roundworms
- Lungworms / pulmonary nematodes
- Mixed susceptible nematode infestations
- Routine strategic deworming when Levamisole is appropriate
Dosage & Administration
Recommended Levamisole dose: 7.5 MG/KG body weight orally.
Equivalent product recommendation:
Adult Sheep & Goat: 2 G NILVERM Powder per animal.
Route: Oral administration.
Accurate body-weight assessment is important because Levamisole has a relatively narrow safety margin, and excessive dosing should be avoided.
Key Benefits
NILVERM provides broad-spectrum deworming activity against susceptible gastrointestinal and lung nematodes in sheep and goats. The formulation also contains copper, zinc and cobalt as trace mineral components.
Precautions
Use according to veterinary advice and calculate the dose based on accurate body weight. Do not exceed the recommended Levamisole dose.
Avoid repeated indiscriminate use of the same anthelmintic because anthelmintic resistance can reduce treatment effectiveness. For food-producing animals, observe the meat/milk withdrawal instructions on the current product label.
Possible Adverse Effects
Levamisole overdose may produce signs such as salivation, tremors, restlessness, gastrointestinal disturbance or other nervous-system signs. Its margin of safety is narrower than that of some other anthelmintic classes.
Seek veterinary assistance promptly if significant adverse signs develop.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep the container properly closed after use and out of reach of children.
Important Warning
FOR VETERINARY USE ONLY.
Use under veterinary guidance. Correct dosing is especially important with Levamisole-containing dewormers. Follow the current product label for contraindications and applicable withdrawal periods.
