Composition

Each tablet contains:

• Praziquantel USP — 50 mg
• Pyrantel Embonate IP — 144 mg
• Febantel IP — 150 mg 

Clinical Description

DRONTAL PLUS TASTY is a broad-spectrum combination dewormer for dogs. Its three active ingredients provide complementary activity against major gastrointestinal worms.

Praziquantel is primarily active against tapeworms. Pyrantel produces neuromuscular paralysis of susceptible roundworms and hookworms, while Febantel is a pro-benzimidazole that disrupts parasite metabolism. 

Indications / Recommended Uses

It is indicated for mixed infestations involving important canine intestinal parasites, including roundworms (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina), hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala), whipworms (Trichuris vulpis) and tapeworms including Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp. and Echinococcus spp. 

Usage Instructions

Recommended oral dose: 1 tablet per 10 kg body weight. 

Approximate weight-based administration:

• 2–5 kg: ½ tablet
• 5–10 kg: 1 tablet
• 10–15 kg: 1½ tablets
• 15–20 kg: 2 tablets

The tablet has a break line and can be divided for weight-based dosing. It may be administered directly or with food according to the current label/veterinarian's instructions.

Precautions

Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to any active ingredient. Pregnancy-related restrictions can vary by market; one registered Drontal Plus Tasty label states not to use during the first and second thirds of pregnancy, so breeding or pregnant dogs should be treated only according to the applicable Indian label and veterinary advice. 

Possible Adverse Effects

The product is generally well tolerated when correctly administered. Very rarely, mild and transient gastrointestinal reactions such as vomiting may occur. 

Seek veterinary advice if vomiting, diarrhoea, weakness or another reaction is severe or persistent.

Storage

Store according to the current product label. An Indian medicine listing specifies storage below 30°C. Protect tablets from excessive heat and moisture and keep out of reach of children.
