Clinical Description
BUTOX Liquid is a concentrated veterinary ectoparasiticide containing Deltamethrin. It is designed for the control of important external parasites affecting livestock and other label-approved animals.
Deltamethrin acts on the nervous system of susceptible arthropods, disrupting normal nerve impulse transmission and resulting in paralysis and death of the parasite.
It is particularly useful as part of an ectoparasite-control programme for animals affected by ticks, lice, mites and nuisance/biting flies.
Indications / Recommended Uses
BUTOX Liquid is used for the control and management of susceptible external parasites, including:
- Ticks
- Lice
- Mites
- Biting and nuisance flies
- Other susceptible ectoparasites as specified on the product label
It may help reduce irritation, skin damage and production losses associated with significant ectoparasite infestations.
Dilution & Usage Instructions
BUTOX is a concentrated product and should be diluted before application.
A commonly labelled dilution for routine external-parasite control is approximately:
1 mL BUTOX in 1 litre of water
The prepared solution can be applied externally by spraying, washing or other label-approved topical application method, ensuring adequate coverage of the animal's body.
For heavy infestation or specific parasites, the required concentration and repeat-treatment interval can differ. Therefore, the exact dilution, application method and retreatment schedule on the current pack/leaflet should be followed.
Do not administer orally or by injection.
Key Benefits
BUTOX provides broad-spectrum external parasite control with Deltamethrin 1.25% w/v.
It is useful against several important livestock ectoparasites and offers:
- Tick control
- Lice control
- Mite control
- Fly control
- Convenient water-dilutable topical application
- Support for improved animal comfort, skin condition and livestock management
Precautions
FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY.
Dilute the concentrate correctly before application.
Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, nostrils and other mucous membranes.
Do not allow animals to lick concentrated product or freshly treated areas excessively.
Wear appropriate protective gloves when preparing and applying the solution, and wash hands after use.
Do not contaminate feed, drinking water, ponds or natural waterways. Deltamethrin can be hazardous to aquatic organisms.
Keep the product away from children.
Withdrawal Period
For food-producing animals, milk and meat withdrawal requirements should be taken from the current Indian product label for the particular species and application regimen.
Do not apply a generic withdrawal period from another deltamethrin formulation, because approved withdrawal periods may differ by formulation, concentration, species and country.
Possible Adverse Effects
When used at the recommended dilution, BUTOX is generally intended to be well tolerated.
Incorrect concentration, accidental ingestion or excessive application may cause adverse effects such as:
- Skin irritation
- Restlessness or discomfort
- Excessive salivation following accidental licking
- Neurological signs in significant pyrethroid exposure
If accidental poisoning or a severe reaction is suspected, seek veterinary attention promptly.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
Keep the original container tightly closed and separate from food, feed and drinking water.
Keep out of reach of children and animals.
Important Warning
