Composition

Each 1 g contains:

• Neomycin Sulphate IP equivalent to Neomycin – 3,400 units
• Polymyxin B Sulphate USP equivalent to Polymyxin – 5,000 units
• Bacitracin Zinc IP equivalent to Bacitracin – 400 units
• Excipients – q.s. 

This combination provides triple topical antibacterial activity for wound protection.

Clinical Description

ALUSPRAY-AWD is a veterinary antibacterial aerosol wound dressing formulated to provide a protective coating over wounds while helping control susceptible bacterial contamination.

The combination of Neomycin + Polymyxin B + Bacitracin provides complementary topical antibacterial activity. The aerosol application allows the wound to be covered without direct physical contact, while the coating helps protect the wound from environmental contamination and flies. 

Indications / Recommended Uses

Vetoquinol recommends ALUSPRAY-AWD for all types of wounds, including:

• Surgical wounds
• Open wounds
• Septic/infected wounds
• Aseptic wounds
• Maggot-infested wounds
• Wounds requiring antibacterial protection
• Wounds requiring protection against flies and environmental contamination. 

Usage Instructions

For topical/external application only.

Vetoquinol recommends a superficial application once or twice daily.

For optimal results:

1. Clean and disinfect the wound thoroughly.
2. Suture the wound if necessary and clinically appropriate.
3. Shake the aerosol well before use.
4. Hold the container approximately 12–15 cm from the wound.
5. Spray a thin, even layer over the affected area.
6. Repeat once or twice daily, or as directed by the veterinarian.

Contraindications & Precautions

Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to Neomycin, Polymyxin B, Bacitracin or other components.

For external use only.

Avoid spraying into the eyes, mouth, nostrils or other mucous membranes.

Deep wounds, extensive tissue damage, abscesses, severe infection or extensive maggot infestation may require debridement, systemic medication or other veterinary treatment in addition to topical wound care.

Because the product contains topical antibiotics, unnecessary or prolonged use should be avoided to support responsible antimicrobial stewardship.

Possible Adverse Effects

Possible reactions may include:

• Temporary local irritation
• Redness
• Contact sensitivity
• Allergic dermatitis
• Rare hypersensitivity to topical antibiotics

Discontinue use and obtain veterinary advice if significant irritation or worsening of the wound occurs.

Withdrawal Period

ALUSPRAY-AWD may be used in food-producing livestock. A current India-specific meat/milk withdrawal period was not stated in the Vetoquinol product-manual entry reviewed. Vetoquinol

Storage

Store according to the current manufacturer's label.

As an aerosol container, protect from excessive heat, direct sunlight and sources of ignition. Do not puncture or burn the container.
